Semiconductor LASER diodes (ILDs)

 Semiconductor laser diodes are also known as Injection Laser Diodes (ILDs) or simply injection diodes. These are pn junctions using direct band gap semiconductor materials. ILDs are used as efficient light source devices in optical fiber communication system. As part of unit 3 in PH 213 course of your first semester MSc Physics programme under 2018 revised syllabus in University of Kerala, this topic is included.
